EKI manufactures optical industrial keypad where the finger is detected by a matrix of infrared sensors with drift free technology so they can be used outside, desk top or the factory floor. There are no nooks and crannies around keys so they can be just washed off if something is spilled on them. As standard they can be either completely silent or have an audible response.

Rugged Industrial keypads that will not wear out, rated at 30,000,000 touches per year. EKI's industrial keypad detects your finger optically so there are no moving parts, and no domes to crack... these are not membrane or mechanical switch keypads, you can stick a knife in the touch surface and not affect the life or operation. Keypad can have permanent, semi-permanent key text overlays. Industrial keypad that can I/O dual ascii (rs-232 or rs-422), USB or PS2 codes and sequences of codes. They are sealed so they can be easily washed off. No extra charge for making our custom keypads fit your application.

With our industrial keypads that use PS2 output, there is no other connections required.

Our industrial keypads are also compact in size so they can be used on your lap, stand, or desk. We have models that can be mounted to a panel or machine. They can be fitted with a touch pad to one side, or in the middle of the keypad.

And because they're optical we can make them to fit your application. You can have only the keys you want, your name, your colors, your organization's name, your department, and text (a function name). And Hot Keys, one key can input a URL, ctrl-C, etc., so if you're using a program that you press a sequence of keys on a regular basis, those sequences can be programmed into one key with the function name put on the key position.

The price of the custom key text overlay is included in the price, and because there are no moving parts they will never wear out.

Up to 35key position industrial keypad

20 PKB-SAMS is $279 in quantity one. The 20 PKB-SAMS is a standalone stainless steel industrial keypad that is not mounted to be used on a work station or piece of equipment, it can be washed off from the top. The NEMA 4 version is $329. You can have your colors, key text and key patterns in 1-2 weeks, and no tooling or minimun order. The cable plugs into the PS2 port and is permanently attached to the keypad. Size is 7 inches wide, 8 inches deep, and 2 inches high.

These keypads can also have direct outputs from keys to drive relays for show models, custom displays, lighting effects and other projects that require control without having a computer, call 877-368-6824 to discuss your project for more details. Some functions are - momentary, latch (touch once on, touch again off), sequencing, clear all, clear some, response from external inputs, and also 8 led's on the keypad to show which switch is on.

20 PKB-FM (flush mount industrial keypad) or-FMT (flush mount w/threads industrial keypad) shown above is $169 in quantity one. The 20 PKB-FM and -FMT above is a flush mount industrial keypad that mounts from the rear through a customers panel, when mounted it is sealed. The gasket is included with the keypad. The cable plugs into the PS2 port and to the keypad. The keypad above is shown with one of many overlay styles that EKI custom makes for no extra change to fit a customers application. The keypad is 5.00 inches (127mm) wide, and 6.00 inches (152mm) deep, and 1.00 inch (26mm) thick. The key text area is 3.00 inches (51mm) by 3.75 inches (95mm). In the -FM there are four mounting holes that have no threads and are .169 inches in diameter to fit over 6-32 studs, the studs part number is PEM FH-632-20, they can be purchased from Penn Engineering. In the -FMT there are four mounting holes with 8-32 threads for mounting with the heads exposed, click on "Mounting" for a drawing to show the screw position.

20 PKB-SM (surface mount industrial keypad) -W (white bezel) -B (black bezel) -G (gray bezel) shown above is $184 in quantity one. The 20 PKB-SM's above are surface mount industrial keypad that mount on top of a customers panel, when mounted are sealed. The gasket is included with the keypad. It can be mounted horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) depending on your key pattern. The cable plugs into the PS2 port and to the keypad. There are 4 mounting holes that have 8-32 threads. The 20 PKB-SA (stand alone) looks the same as the -SM except the PS2 cable is fixed to the keyboard and it has four rubber feet so it can be used on a desk or shop table.

35 Position Industrial Keypads

The 35 position panel mount keypads have the same overall size as the 20 position industrial keypad, and mount the same way. The only difference is there are more sensors inside to detect the added positions, and are slightly higher in cost. The 35 PKB-FM is $179, and the 35 PKB-SM is $194. The key pitch is .5 inches.
